Garage Legal
The Garage Légal is the entrepreneurship division of the University of Montreal’s legal clinic and a non-profit organization supporting the development of Quebec’s entrepreneurs and non-profit organizations. Our mission is to guide anyone entering the business world by providing them with free legal support and information services.
These services are offered by law students as part of a university course (DRT 3914), and thanks to the involvement of volunteers and students from the Faculty of Law, our services are available year-round.
Grounded in values of innovation, efficiency, rigor, and collaboration, Garage Légal supports not only business development but also contributes to students’ training by introducing them to the realities of today’s marketplace.
About us
Since its launch, Garage Légal has served nearly 400 clients and has established itself as a valuable resource for entrepreneurs. Garage Légal is a non-profit organization overseen by a Board of Directors, which includes former students of the course who are now practicing lawyers in law firms or corporate environments.
You can find a more detailed introduction to the board members in the “About” section of the website.
Our three missions:
Support founders of young businesses and non-profits by providing them with access to quality legal information.
Train students to become leaders in their field and community.
Raise students’ awareness of the impact of new technologies on the legal industry and develop technological tools to promote access to law.
